(great)grandfather Isaac and Caroline Winkel confirmed their marriage in a Jewish ritual, called chupah, on August 15, 1912 at The Hague, in the then Portuguese Jewish Synagogue, situated at the Princessegracht. [ click on the picture ]. The synagogue still exists and is beautifully renovated and in use with the Reform Jewish congregation.
